What is LinkedIn SSI?
LinkedIn SSI (Social Selling Index) is a LinkedIn score from 0 to 100 that measures how well you use LinkedIn to sell through relationships and content. It has four components, each worth up to 25 points: a professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights and building relationships.

The four components of SSI
According to LinkedIn, each component gets a score of up to 25, and the sum is your SSI:
- Professional brand: a complete, precise profile that shows your expertise
- Finding the right people: searching for and identifying prospects
- Engaging with insights: sharing and responding to relevant content
- Building relationships: creating and strengthening connections with the right people
You can see your score at linkedin.com/sales/ssi.
Why it matters, and what LinkedIn says now
LinkedIn says social selling leaders create 45% more opportunities than peers with lower SSI and are 51% more likely to reach quota. These are LinkedIn's own figures, and they show correlation, not necessarily cause.
Interestingly, LinkedIn itself now adds a caveat. On its "From SSI to AI" page it says a high SSI score doesn't always represent a seller's effectiveness or correlate with sales outcomes, and that the time needed to raise it can distract from closing deals.
Common mistake
Chasing the score. SSI measures activity, not revenue. You can raise it with lots of likes and connections without a single meeting being booked.
How it relates to Velut's work
I don't measure clients by SSI. But the four components overlap with the work itself: a profile upgrade at the start of every engagement, defining the ICP and a list of decision-makers, content and comments in the feed, and personal outreach that leads to meetings. The score goes up as a result, not as a goal.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I check my SSI?
At linkedin.com/sales/ssi. The score is shown there together with its four components.
What is a good SSI score?
LinkedIn doesn't set an official "good" threshold on its pages. Compare yourself to yourself over time, and check whether the activity brings conversations and meetings.
Does a high SSI bring more sales?
LinkedIn says social selling leaders create more opportunities. But LinkedIn itself now says a high score doesn't always correlate with sales outcomes. The metric that matters is meetings and deals.
